School Rocks

My kids think SCHOOL ROCKS!!! They are up and ready to go. I hope this continues as we move further into the school year. I love that they are eager to learn and play.  Madison came home yesterday and couldn’t wait to tell us all she had learned and of course what she ate. Miles came home singing Happy Happy Tuesday!! He still thinks all colors are blue, but anytime I know he will get it. Madison is into picking out her own clothes for school, so I thought I would share her outfit today and of course bubby too—can’t leave him out.

Week in Review

Busy Busy week around here--- school starting for Madison and Miles, pool construction is under way, our 9 year anniversary, and house projects!!

Madison is having an awesome time in school. She is so ready to go every morning, which I think means she is loving it. She has been waking up, before the alarm is even going off—getting dressed—and ready to go with time to spare. This is saying a lot as her school starts at 7:30. I am so proud of her and how she has made this transition so smoothly!!  Today is PE day and she was well prepared!!! My girl is rocking it today!!

Miles’ teacher --Mrs. Miller (which he says so cute)-- emailed this picture home from the first day. Look at my boy coloring and behaving so well. Craig and I seem to think this probably only last 2 minutes, but what do we know.

Our pool is underway and it seems to be going well. However, the yard is a hot mess after dump trucks and back hoes and been all over it so there is not where for the kids to play and the dog brings in so much dirt when we let him out. I guess this is all just part of the process. I am trying to pick out tile now—I think I have narrowed it down to these three, but definitely open to suggestions. Which color do yall like?

I am also thinking about ordering these lounge chairs in the tan color for the pool. The price is amazing and the look is what I want!!

Craig has also been whipping out my honey do projects—is this not just amazing!! I love it!! Plans via Shanty 2 Chic.

This week I also went and browsed the new West Elm store downtown—Yall I am in love with it all!!! I picked up a few things and ordered some curtains to try in the dining room.  I can’t wait for them to come in!! One of the things I got was this wooden tray for the bar. Love it!!! I also picked up these wine glasses at World Market since they went
on sale.

This week Craig and I celebrated our 9 year anniversary!! We laid low since it was the first week of school and we didn’t want to mess us the routine. We took the fam out to eat and had some yummy drinks!! Yes I got a mojito—my drink of choice as you all probably already know!! I am one lucky girl to have such a loving, fun, determined, and hot husband and daddy to my kids!!

I also ordered some new special arm candy. I am loving the fact that now I have another special part of my day/life just for him!! We miss you so much!!!

I have a weekly trip to Homegoods—I mean that place is amazing. This was my purchase this week- I mean cutest towels ever!!

First Day of 2K

The whole morning he kept saying camp—camp.  This summer he started camp, at his new school, to prepare him for school since he will be one of the youngest in the class. I think  he may have been a little shocked to find out that it was school and not camp, but he still had fun he said.  I thought this shirt was perfect for him as I know he will be the play ground legend for knocking everyone over with his size and determination. Last night I let him wear his back pack—I thought this might last oh 5 minutes or so----no 2 hours later he still had it on. This kid loves his back pack—so cute!!!! Today he walked right into class and didn’t even look back.  That’s my boy!! This was not an easy task—getting a picture of the wild child holding a sign by myself. Well, this was the best I could do as it was raining and he was so ready to go!!  Sorry the sign is upside down—It took me forever just to get him to hold it with the word side out, so once he didn’t I didn’t really care it was upside down. Plus getting this boy to stand still and even look at me is a task these days.

First Day of Kindergarten

I still can’t believe this day is here--- where has my baby gone???? Her alarm went off at 6 and she popped out of bed and was ready to go. She was so excited!!!!!!! I hope this excitement never ends and that she has an awesome first day! I hope she makes wonderful friends that last a lifetime!!! I am counting down the minutes until it is time to pick her up!!!! I know time will fly and in just a few short years she will be off to middle school and then high school and then college. I will cherish this moment and want to remember it forever because they are only this little for a sec. We love you baby girl—ok so how long until I can pick her up?

Powder Room

So I am going to go through and show y’all some of the rooms in our new house. We have been working hard to get it just right. I am sure we will still have things to add as we go along, but I wanted to share some of the things that we have done. Craig has done an amazing job on lots of my projects that I have wanted done!! I will try and link up any tutorials or sources that I can. When you enter the house you have a powder room and a bar area on the left and the dining room on the right. I am going to start with the powder room. There was not storage in the powder room, so I had Craig make these shelves for above the toilet. I just LOVE them and they were super easy!!! I then went to Home Goods, Target, and At Home to find all the little trinkets. We also needed a stool for the bathroom, so I whipped up this one using this stool.

           IMG_6727-elIMG_6733-elIMG_6740

I am going to go ahead and say that taking pictures indoors of rooms is not my thing. Sorry for the bad photos.

I made this scrabble letter to sit on the bar. I think it adds a cool rustic touch to it. I didn’t follow a tutorial on this—I simply had Craig cut me a piece of wood 12x11. I then sanded and stained it. After that I used my Silhouette machine and cut out the letter and number. I know really in Scrabble the C is not worth 6 points, but I changed it to match out family!!  I thought that added a personal touch. Once I had the stencil from the Silhouette—I simply laid it on the wood and then painted with black acrylic paint. That was it—easy peasy.

Summer Go To’s

This summer has been HOT, so the kids and I have lived in shorts and flip flops. Here are some of my summer go to’s that won’t break the bank. You all know I am a sucker for a good deal.  What were your summer go to’s??

Tory Burch Flip Flops

I seriously wear these everyday—they go with just about every outfit. You will definitely get your moneys worth,

Mossimo Jean Short

I love these shorts. They are such a lightweight and reasonable everyday pair of shorts.

Native Shoes

Miles lived in these shoes this summer. We had them in 3 different colors. It is so nice because you they can get wet and when they get dirty you just wash them off.

Mossimo T Shirt

I love Mossimo t shirts. They come in so many different colors and are super comfy. Oh yeah did I mention super reasonable???

Boyfriend V Tee - Mossimo Supply Co.

Urban Outfitters Initial Bar Necklace

This is the perfect everyday necklace that goes with everything. Such a simple yet perfect necklace.

Havaianas Flip Flops

Madison has lived in her havaianas gold flip flops this summer. They are so comfortable and stylish for little girls. I also caved and bought a pair!

Havaianas 'Slim' Flip Flop (Toddler & Little Kid)

Havaianas Animal Slim A…

Cool Weather

It was so nice to get away to the from the heat, for a few days, in the mountains. We got a good bit of rain while we were there, but the temperatures were awesome. It was a short trip, so we just hit up Tweetsie Railroad, did a little back to school shopping, played in the mountain streams, and hit up a local playground. The kids had the best time with their Gugu!! Can't wait to go back!!

Back To School–Part 2

I always love to give the teachers a little something, at the beginning of the year, to show our appreciation and excitement for the school year. This year I quizzed some of my teacher friends to find out what they might like and this is what I have done for Miles and Madison’s teachers and their aids. Thanks to Pinterest for helping me out this year!!

So I hopped on Pinterest and downloaded these tags….. "Flips" and Sharpie .  I then just used some bakers twine to

attach them and walla!!!!

4 Months

This month was a big month—she found her feet and gained full control of her head. I can now carry her on my hip—which she loves!! She also has mastered rolling both ways. Needless to say she doesn’t stay still much any more. She also loves to stick her tongue out, which is the cutest thing ever. I believe she is also hard core teething because she can’t keep her hands out of her mouth. The main thing this next month is working on her sleeping through the night! 4 month check up went well—26 inches long (97%) and 13.9 pounds (43%).  Rice cereal here we come!
